Overview

The Galaxy S21 is a lower mid-range phone from Samsung, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 135 (about $190), up to about JOD 159 for higher storage — also an estimate — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is mid-tier (66/100 on our spec-based index) — the usual class for social media, video, photos and light games.

Performance-index rank: #37 of 342 Samsung phones we list.

Why consider it?

The S21 is the small one in its family: 6.2 inches and 4,000mAh, the two lowest figures in the 2021 line. In exchange it carries an unusual camera order, because Samsung put the highest resolution sensor - 64MP - in the telephoto rather than in the main lens.

Who it suits

Someone who genuinely wants a compact phone, with a 6.2-inch panel that adapts up to 120Hz and an IP68 rating, and who does not mind charging during the day.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who needs a full day on one charge, or a phone still inside a published Samsung security window, or a buyer who wants the charging wattage and the chipset name printed on the maker's own page before paying.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

The table in Samsung's launch release gives the S21 a flat 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X at 2400x1080 and 421ppi, with an adaptive refresh rate between 48 and 120Hz and HDR10+ certification, a 4,000mAh battery whose rated minimum is 3,880mAh, 8GB of LPDDR5 memory with 128GB or 256GB of storage, an IP68 rating, and three rear cameras in an unusual order: a 12MP ultrawide, a 12MP wide with OIS and a 64MP telephoto with 3x hybrid optic zoom and OIS - the highest-resolution sensor sits in the zoom lens. The front camera is 10MP. So far our entry matches the paper, but two fields do not. No wired wattage appears anywhere in Samsung's table, which says only "USB PD 3.0 (PPS) certified Fast Charging", leaving our 25W unverified. And the processor is unnamed: the same table prints 2.9GHz + 2.8GHz + 2.2GHz for the S21 and a different clock profile for the S21+, footnoting both with "May differ by market and carrier". The model's page in Samsung's Jordan catalogue now lands on the Galaxy S category page rather than a spec sheet. The decisive field is software: the phone shipped on Android 11 in January 2021 and was covered by the February 2022 pledge, but Samsung's current Galaxy S security lists start at the S21 FE and the S22, with no S21 among them.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Vivo iQOO 8 — Same year, same money (≈ 135 JD): our catalog records a Snapdragon 888, a 4,350mAh battery, a 6.56-inch screen and a spec index of 68 against 66. Comparable performance with no ambiguity about the chip name - but it is still a 2021 phone, and the same arithmetic applies to it. (135 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

If you want a small body with a 120Hz screen and a real telephoto, and charging during the day is no obstacle, this gives you that for the least money in our catalog at ≈ 135 JD. If security support is a condition, or you need a battery that reaches the evening, the ceiling is on record: 4,000mAh, a charging speed Samsung never published, and a device that has left its security lists.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Exynos 2100 — mid tier (66/100) for social media, video and light-to-medium games.
Battery: 4,000 mAh — a mid-size capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 25W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: AMOLED FHD+, 6.2-inch — an OLED panel (true blacks, higher contrast than LCD).
Camera: 12+64+12 MP (3 lenses) plus a 10 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (charge_w, chip, model page) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant.
