Overview
The Galaxy Tab A9 is a budget phone from Samsung, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 92 (about $130) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.
Its main highlights: its large 5,100 mAh battery. Its chipset is basic (39/100) — calls, WhatsApp and light browsing, as a first or backup phone.
Performance-index rank: #111 of 342 Samsung phones we list.
Why consider it?
This is a tablet, not a phone, and that has to be the starting point: an 8.7-inch TFT panel at 1340x800, an octa-core processor at 2.2GHz and 2GHz that Samsung never names, and a 5,100mAh battery, from ≈ 92 JD. Samsung sells two materially different models in the Levant under this name: Wi-Fi only (SM-X110) and LTE (SM-X115).
Who it suits
Someone who wants a bigger screen for reading, video and lessons alongside their phone, at 332g and 8mm thick, with dual speakers and Dolby Atmos support per Samsung's page.
Who should look elsewhere
Not a phone replacement. The Wi-Fi model, SM-X110 — the one matching the 4GB/64GB configuration in our catalogue — has no SIM tray at all and its sheet lists no network bands. The LTE model takes a single SIM, and Samsung does not state voice-calling support on either page.
Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence
Start with what matters most to a buyer: the Galaxy Tab A9 is not a phone, and Samsung sells it in two versions that differ fundamentally. The Wi-Fi model, SM-X110, has no network section and no SIM tray on its sheet at all — it works over Wi-Fi only. The SM-X115 carries a single SIM with 2G, 3G and 4G bands, and adds the HFP and HSP Bluetooth profiles used for call headsets, which are absent from the Wi-Fi sheet. That hints at wider voice capability, but Samsung does not write "voice calling" anywhere on either page, so we will not assert it. The shared specifications: a TFT panel measuring 220.5mm, or 8.7 inches, at 1340x800 — which Samsung labels WXGA+ — an octa-core processor at 2.2GHz and 2GHz with no chipset name, a 5,100mAh battery, an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and no flash, a 2MP front camera, and video capture capped at FHD 30fps. The body is 211 x 124.7 x 8.0mm at 332g for the Wi-Fi version and 333g for the LTE one. Storage is 64GB with 4GB of RAM in the base configuration, rising to 128GB and 8GB on the LTE model listed, with microSD up to 1TB either way. There is no NFC and no fingerprint sensor; the sensors are accelerometer, geomagnetic, light and proximity. Samsung publishes neither a charging wattage nor a refresh rate. We have not tested it or measured its screen or its battery.
Alternatives worth comparing
- Galaxy F16 5G — If what you actually need is a phone at the same money (≈ 92 JD): a Samsung with a 6.7-inch 90Hz screen, a Dimensity 6300 with 5G and a 50+5+2 camera set — in exchange for a far smaller screen than the tablet's. (92 JOD · estimate)
- Tecno Camon 20 Pro — A phone at the same money (≈ 92 JD) that our catalogue records with a Helio G99 — the same part the Tab A9 is believed to use, though Samsung never confirms it — with a 6.67-inch 120Hz screen and a 64MP camera. (92 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above
If you want a cheap second screen for video and reading alongside your phone, it does that at ≈ 92 JD with a 5,100mAh battery and a card slot. But if you landed here looking for a phone, the real limit is simpler than any spec comparison: this is a tablet, and its more common configuration has no place to put a SIM at all.

What does that mean in plain words?
Battery: 5,100 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 15W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: LCD HD+, 8.7-inch — an LCD panel; lower contrast than OLED, and the norm at this price.
Camera: 8 MP (1 lens) plus a 2 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.
Pros & cons
Pros
- An 8.7-inch (220.5mm) 1340x800 screen and a 5,100mAh battery in an 8mm, 332g body — a reading surface no phone at this price comes near
- A microSD slot for up to 1TB, a 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.3, and dual 1W speakers with Dolby Atmos support per Samsung's page
- Samsung's security site still lists it among the devices receiving quarterly security updates, despite a 2023 launch
Cons
- The Wi-Fi model has no cellular connection whatsoever and the LTE model takes one SIM, and Samsung states no voice-calling support on either sheet
- No fingerprint sensor and no NFC, an 8MP rear camera with no flash, a 2MP front camera, and video capture capped at FHD 30fps
- Samsung publishes neither a charging wattage nor a refresh rate on the product pages, so the 15W recorded in our catalogue is unconfirmed by the manufacturer
