Overview
The iPhone 6s is a budget phone from Apple, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 28 (about $40) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.
Its main highlights: its practical balance of price and specs. Its chipset is basic (29/100) — calls, WhatsApp and light browsing, as a first or backup phone.
Performance-index rank: #42 of 46 Apple phones we list — and its performance-per-dinar is among the highest we list (an arithmetic ratio, not a verdict on value).
Why consider it?
A September 2015 phone still being offered at around ≈ 28 — that is the only reason it is on this list. The iPhone 6s is not on Apple's iOS 27 device list, which starts at iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation and later); it is frozen on the iOS 15 branch. The one point in its favour is that the branch is still being patched: Apple shipped iOS 15.8.8 on 11 May 2026 for "iPhone 6s (all models)".
Who it suits
A spare handset, a second line for calls and messages, a first phone for a child, or simply seeing what iOS is like for the smallest possible outlay.
Who should look elsewhere
Not for anyone shopping for their main phone in 2026: the OS is stuck at a 2021 release, app minimum requirements keep climbing, and the battery is ten years old whatever the seller says.
Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence
Apple's own specifications page for the iPhone 6s lists a 4.7-inch IPS display at 1334-by-750 pixels and 326 ppi with 3D Touch, an A9 chip with 64-bit architecture alongside an embedded M9 motion coprocessor, a 12-megapixel rear camera recording 4K video at 30 fps, a 5-megapixel front camera, a Lightning connector and 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. Apple publishes no mAh capacity, no RAM figure and no charging wattage. What it does publish are usage claims for a new 2015 handset: up to 14 hours of talk time, 11 hours of video playback and 50 hours of audio. Any milliamp-hour number you see in a listing did not come from Apple.
The verdict here is decided by software, not hardware. Apple's iOS 27 compatibility list starts at iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation and later), so this phone is outside it and stuck on the iOS 15 branch. Against that, Apple's security releases page shows the branch has not been abandoned: iOS 15.8.8 shipped on 11 May 2026 for "iPhone 6s (all models)". The precise reading is that the phone is not unpatched — it is twelve major versions behind, and that gap is what gradually closes the door on apps whose developers raise their minimum OS every year.
Two further points deserve weight. Apple lists the 32GB iPhone 6s as obsolete worldwide and the remaining capacities as vintage, and states plainly that for an obsolete product all hardware service stops and service providers cannot order parts. And the battery: what is left of it after ten years cannot be inferred from a spec sheet or from an asking price. We have not tested this device; everything above is read from Apple's published pages.
Alternatives worth comparing
- iPhone 6 Plus — Slightly cheaper at around ≈ 26 with a larger 5.5-inch 1920-by-1080 screen, but a full generation older: an A8 chip, an 8MP camera with no 4K, and a 1.2MP front camera. Worse, Apple lists it as obsolete worldwide and its last OS branch is iOS 12. Do not step down to it to save a small difference. (26 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above
Do not buy this as a daily phone in 2026. At ≈ 28 it is a reasonable spare or second handset and nothing beyond that. If you need something to carry every day, any cheap current handset is the better buy, because it will keep receiving OS upgrades for years and will install the apps a 2021 OS is starting to refuse.

What does that mean in plain words?
Battery: 1,715 mAh — a relatively small capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 5W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: LCD HD+, 4.7-inch — an LCD panel; lower contrast than OLED, and the norm at this price.
Camera: 12 MP (1 lens) plus a 5 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.
Pros & cons
Pros
- It is still inside the security-patch window: Apple's security releases page lists iOS 15.8.8, dated 11 May 2026, for "iPhone 6s (all models)" — more than any 2015 Android still gets
- A genuine camera step over the previous generation: Apple lists a 12MP rear camera with 4K video at 30 fps and a 5MP front camera, against 8MP, 1080p and 1.2MP on the iPhone 6
- Small and light by today's standards: 4.7 inches, 7.1mm thick and 143 grams on Apple's page — a size that has all but disappeared from the market
Cons
- Completely outside the current OS: Apple's iOS 27 compatibility list begins at iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation), leaving this phone twelve major versions behind
- Apple's own status for it: the 32GB version is listed as obsolete worldwide and the other capacities as vintage, and Apple states that for obsolete products all hardware service stops and service providers cannot order parts
- The battery is an unknown: Apple writes that rechargeable batteries are consumable components that become less effective as they chemically age, and names the iPhone 6s among the models covered by performance management, which slows the phone to avoid unexpected shutdowns
