Overview

The Moto G 5G Plus is a budget phone from Motorola, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 68 (about $95) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its large 5,000 mAh battery. Its chipset is entry-level (44/100) — for messaging, browsing and video; heavy gaming is not its territory.

Performance-index rank: #64 of 216 Motorola phones we list — and its performance-per-dinar is among the highest we list (an arithmetic ratio, not a verdict on value).

Why consider it?

One of the first Motorola phones to push 5G down into the moto g line, in July 2020: a 6.7-inch 21:9 HDR10 screen at 90Hz, a 5000 mAh battery, a 48 MP quad rear camera, and the company's first dual selfie system. Our record price is ≈ 68.

Who it suits

Someone who wants the cheapest way onto a 5G network with a long screen and a big battery, and who uses the phone for watching and messaging rather than anything demanding.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who needs a system that still receives updates. Motorola's published plan for this model stops at Android 11: the company listed it for that upgrade at the end of 2020, then left it off the Android 12 list a year later.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Motorola's release of 7 July 2020 is the only published reference left for this phone, and it names the processor outright as the 'Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 Mobile Platform' with the Snapdragon X52 modem, rather than the 765G our record carries. The screen is a 6.7-inch CinemaVision panel at Full HD+ in a 21:9 ratio, certified for HDR10, at a 90Hz refresh rate, which the company describes as the largest it had fitted to a moto g device up to then.

The rear camera is a quad system rather than the three modules in our record: a 48 MP Quad Pixel main sensor, an ultra-wide lens, a depth sensor for background separation, and a dedicated Macro Vision camera that Motorola says gets five times closer than a normal lens. The front is the company's first dual selfie arrangement, a 16 MP main sensor beside a wide selfie lens.

The footnotes are worth more than the headline numbers here: Motorola states that the 48 MP sensor yields a 12 MP photo after binning, and that the 16 MP selfie camera yields 4 MP by the same process. The battery is 5000 mAh with 20 W TurboPower charging, and the phone carries NFC.

On software the evidence is a pair of published lists rather than a promise. The moto g 5G plus appears on Motorola's Android 11 upgrade list of December 2020, and does not appear on the Android 12 list published exactly a year later. No security-patch period was ever announced for it.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Galaxy M14 5G — The same price level but three years newer, with a larger 6000 mAh battery in our record, and the closer pick if 5G is the only reason for the purchase. (68 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›
  • Redmi 14R 5G — The same price level, from 2024, with a 6.88-inch 120Hz screen and a Dimensity 6300, against only two rear cameras in our record rather than the four here. (68 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

Take it if you want the cheapest route onto 5G with a large screen and a battery that lasts, knowing you are running a system frozen at Android 11; skip it if you rely on the phone for banking or anything sensitive, because that ceiling is not something you can raise later.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Snapdragon 765G — entry level (44/100) for messaging, browsing and video; not aimed at heavy gaming.
Battery: 5,000 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 20W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: IPS LCD FHD+, 6.7-inch — an LCD panel; lower contrast than OLED, and the norm at this price.
Camera: 48+8+5 MP (3 lenses) plus a 16 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • A 6.7-inch 21:9 Full HD+ panel certified for HDR10 at a 90Hz refresh rate, which Motorola called the largest screen it had put in a moto g device at the time.
  • A 5000 mAh battery with 20 W TurboPower charging, plus NFC for tap-to-pay, which was not common at this price in 2020.
  • Four rear cameras: a 48 MP Quad Pixel main sensor, an ultra-wide, a depth sensor and a dedicated macro camera, alongside a dual selfie setup that adds a wide selfie lens.

Cons

  • The published upgrade plan ended at Android 11, and the model is absent from the supported list on Motorola's security-updates page, which states that unlisted devices receive neither security patches nor OS upgrades.
  • Charging stops at 20 W for a 5000 mAh cell, so a full refill is a slow business by current standards.
  • The 48 MP figure is not the picture you get: Motorola's own footnote explains that four pixels merge into one for a 12 MP image, and by the same logic the 16 MP selfie camera produces 4 MP.

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (chip, front_cam, rear_cam, screen_type) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant. Treat them as unconfirmed. Spotted an error? Let us know.
