Overview
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro is a lower mid-range phone from Motorola, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 175 (about $245) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.
Its main highlights: its strong 60 MP selfie camera, and its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is mid-tier (72/100 on our spec-based index) — the usual class for social media, video, photos and light games.
Performance-index rank: #11 of 216 Motorola phones we list.
Why consider it?
This was Motorola's 2022 flagship and, by the company's own account, the first phone in the world launched on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1: a 6.7-inch OLED at 144Hz, a 4800 mAh battery with a 68 W TurboPower charger in the box, and a 60 MP selfie camera. The price we hold is ≈ 175.
Who it suits
Someone chasing top-tier performance on a mid-range budget, who cares more about very fast charging and a high-refresh screen than about owning a current model.
Who should look elsewhere
Anyone who needs the phone to stay updated. Neither the global nor the Brazilian release attaches a number of OS upgrades or a security-patch period to this model, unlike what Motorola did for the edge 20 generation.
Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence
Motorola's global release of 24 February 2022 introduces the phone under two names: motorola edge+ in North America and motorola edge 30 pro across Europe, Latin America, India, the Middle East and Asia. The company states it was the first manufacturer to launch a device on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 platform, and lists a 4800 mAh battery, 15 W TurboPower wireless charging with wireless power sharing, and a 6.7-inch Max Vision OLED at full HD resolution running at 144Hz.
The Brazilian release from the same day fills in what the global text leaves out: a 68 W TurboPower charger in the box, which Motorola calls the most powerful charger it had ever shipped and credits with more than 50 percent in fifteen minutes, a 360Hz touch sampling rate, 10-bit colour certified to HDR10+, a 12 GB / 256 GB configuration, and a clean build of Android 12.
The camera is a triple: a 50 MP main sensor with optical stabilisation and all-pixel focus, a hybrid 50 MP sensor covering both ultra-wide and macro down to 2.5 cm, and 8K video recording. The front camera is 60 MP with Quad Pixel binning.
What neither release contains is a software-support line. The edge 20 generation before it had a written promise of two OS upgrades and two years of patches; here there is no figure and no period. Motorola's current security-updates page does not list this model under either of its names.
Alternatives worth comparing
- Motorola Edge 40 — The same price level and the same family a year newer, though our record rates its Dimensity 8020 below the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and its 4400 mAh battery is smaller, in exchange for a phone closer to the support cut-off. (175 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›
- iPhone 12 — Cheaper by ≈ 5, and a far longer update life, but a 6.1-inch 60Hz screen and a 2815 mAh battery. (170 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above
Take it if you want the fastest silicon and the fastest charging this budget can buy and you accept that you are buying hardware rather than software; skip it if staying on a supported version of Android matters to you, because Motorola never committed to any support period for this model in the first place.

Phones JO index (spec-based)
What does that mean in plain words?
Battery: 4,800 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 68W — among the fastest around (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: pOLED FHD+, 6.7-inch — an OLED panel (true blacks, higher contrast than LCD).
Camera: 50+50+2 MP (3 lenses) plus a 60 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.
Pros & cons
Pros
- A Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 with 12 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage: the complete top-tier hardware package of 2022.
- A 68 W TurboPower charger in the box, which Motorola says fills more than half the battery in 15 minutes, plus 15 W wireless charging and the ability to share power with other devices.
- A 6.7-inch OLED at 144Hz with a 360Hz touch sampling rate and 10-bit colour certified to HDR10+, alongside stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.
Cons
- No published support window at all: both launch releases describe clean Android 12 and then say nothing whatsoever about how long updates would last.
- The edge family on Motorola's security-updates page now starts at the edge 30 ultra and the motorola edge (2022); neither the edge 30 pro nor its North American name, edge+, appears, and the page says unlisted devices no longer get updates.
- The third rear module is not a zoom lens. Motorola describes two 50 MP sensors, one of them a hybrid ultra-wide and macro, and never claims optical telephoto on this model.
