Big Screen, Clear Text: Simple Phones With Long Battery Life at a Sensible Price

Not everyone wants the fastest chip. Some people want a large screen, readable text and a battery that does not die before evening, with no complications. We picked five phones with screens from 6.72 to 6.9 inches and prices from JOD 112 to JOD 195, and spelled out what each one gives and what it costs you.

If you are buying for a parent, or for anyone whose eyesight is tiring and who does not want to learn a complicated device, the priorities come down to three: screen size, text clarity and battery life. The camera and the performance index come later, and sometimes never. This also happens to be the cheapest way to buy a phone, because expensive models charge you for things that will never be used.

The Biggest Screen for the Least Money

These two give you the most display area for the lowest price here, and each carries a clear trade-off you should know upfront.

  • Oukitel C60 — JOD 112, and the largest screen in this list: 6.88 inches, IPS LCD at HD+ and 90Hz, with a 10000 mAh battery and 33W charging, a Unisoc T606 chip, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Be honest with yourself, though: it scores 19 out of 100 on our index, and there is a single 13MP rear camera with a 5MP front one. This is a calling and messaging phone, not a camera.
  • Redmi 15 — JOD 115, rising to JOD 149 depending on the version, with a 6.9-inch FHD+ screen at 144Hz, a 7000 mAh battery and 33W charging, a Snapdragon 685 chip with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 50MP rear camera and an 8MP front one. It scores 28 out of 100, but FHD+ resolution makes a real difference to text clarity compared with HD+.

A Battery That Keeps the Charger Out of Mind

The biggest problem older users hit is not specs, it is the phone dying while they are out with no charger nearby. If that is your main concern, there is an extreme option: the Ulefone RugKing 5 Pro at JOD 125 with a 20000 mAh battery, by far the largest here, alongside a 6.78-inch FHD+ screen, 33W charging, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and it is the newest of the group (2026). The trade-off is plain: 24 out of 100 on our index, a 60Hz screen only, and a battery that size arrives in a thicker, heavier body, so hold one in your hand before deciding.

If There Is Room to Spend More

Above JOD 180 the screen technology itself changes, not just its size. That is the difference worth paying for if the budget allows.

  • Honor X8d — JOD 189, a 6.77-inch AMOLED screen at FHD+ and 120Hz, a 7000 mAh battery with 45W charging, a Snapdragon 6s 4G Gen2 chip with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, a 108+5 rear camera and a 16MP front one. It scores 34 out of 100.
  • Vivo T4 5G — JOD 195, a 6.72-inch AMOLED screen at FHD+ and 120Hz, a 7300 mAh battery with 90W charging, the fastest here, a Snapdragon 7s Gen3 chip with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, a 50+2 rear camera and a 32MP front one. It scores 58 out of 100, the highest in this list.

An AMOLED screen delivers higher contrast and deeper blacks than LCD, which makes text easier to read for weaker eyesight, especially at night. And 90W charging on the Vivo T4 5G means the battery refills quickly when a charge gets forgotten, a point that matters more in practice than it looks on paper.

The bottom line: if the budget is tight and the use is calls and messaging, the Redmi 15 at JOD 115 is the most sensible balance with its 6.9-inch FHD+ screen and 7000 mAh battery. If JOD 189 is within reach, the Honor X8d and its AMOLED panel deliver noticeably better text clarity. And do not overlook one simple step everyone skips: after buying, increase the font size in the phone's settings. That solves half the problem for free.
