Overview

The Galaxy S21 Plus is a lower mid-range phone from Samsung, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 158 (about $225), up to about JOD 185 for higher storage — also an estimate — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is mid-tier (66/100 on our spec-based index) — the usual class for social media, video, photos and light games.

Performance-index rank: #37 of 342 Samsung phones we list.

Why consider it?

A complete 2021 flagship spec sheet: a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2400x1080 with an adaptive refresh rate that moves between 48 and 120Hz, a 4800mAh battery, three rear cameras including a 64MP telephoto, an IP68 rating and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint reader. Samsung also separates the Plus from the base S21 on more than size: Ultra Wideband is listed for the Plus and Ultra only.

Who it suits

A buyer who wants a large 120Hz screen, real optical reach and an IP68 body, and treats the phone as a one-or-two-year daily driver rather than a long-term investment.

Who should look elsewhere

Not for anyone who needs continuing security patches, and not for anyone willing to pay before opening Settings and reading the model number - Samsung itself says the processor varies by market.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Samsung's S21 announcement spells the Plus out precisely: a flat 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel at 2400x1080 and 394ppi, with an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 48 to 120Hz, HDR10+ certification and Eye Comfort Shield. The battery is 4800mAh typical, 4660mAh rated minimum, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 memory and either 128GB or 256GB of storage. The rear array is a 12MP ultra-wide at 120 degrees, a 12MP F1.8 wide with optical stabilisation, and a 64MP telephoto with 3x hybrid optical zoom; the front camera is 10MP. The table adds IP68, an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, Android 11 at launch, and an explicit note that Ultra Wideband is supported on the S21+ and S21 Ultra but not the base model - which is part of why the two were priced apart on day one.

The processor row is the one that matters most to a second-hand buyer. Samsung declines to name the chip. Under "AP" it prints two different 5nm octa-core configurations, one peaking at 2.9GHz and the other at 2.8GHz, then footnotes the whole row "May differ by market and carrier". Samsung Levant's support catalogue, meanwhile, lists model SM-G996B under the name Galaxy S21+ 5G. The practical conclusion is the same either way: open Settings, then About phone, and read the model number and processor string before money changes hands, because the marketing name alone does not tell you what is inside.

That leaves the fact that decides the purchase. The oldest S-series entries on Samsung's current security list are the S22 family, plus the S21 FE on quarterly patches. What you are buying here is excellent hardware on software whose clock has stopped.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Galaxy S21 FE — At JOD 155 (estimate), it is JOD 3 cheaper. Compare the variants before deciding: 128GB+ versus 128GB+ storage, 4,500 versus 4,800 mAh, and Snapdragon 888 versus Exynos 2100. These are specification differences, not measured performance or battery life. (155 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

If you want a large 120Hz display, an optical zoom lens and a water-resistant body for ≈ 158-≈ 185 JD, Samsung's own published numbers say this delivers. If staying inside the security-patch window matters to you, the official list stops short of this model, and no amount of inspecting the handset at purchase changes that.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Exynos 2100 — mid tier (66/100) for social media, video and light-to-medium games.
Battery: 4,800 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 25W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: AMOLED FHD+, 6.7-inch — an OLED panel (true blacks, higher contrast than LCD).
Camera: 12+64+12 MP (3 lenses) plus a 10 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • A 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen at FHD+ (2400x1080, 394ppi) with an adaptive 48-120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification
  • 4800mAh typical capacity (4660mAh rated minimum), 800mAh more than the base S21 in the same Samsung table
  • A 64MP telephoto with 3x hybrid optical zoom next to a 12MP wide, a 12MP ultra-wide and a 10MP front camera, plus IP68 and the Ultra Wideband radio Samsung restricts to the Plus and Ultra

Cons

  • Samsung's Security Updates Scope page now starts at the S22 series, and the only 2021 name still on it is the S21 FE under quarterly updates - the S21+ does not appear at all
  • Samsung never names the silicon: the table carries two different octa-core clock configurations footnoted "May differ by market and carrier"
  • No wired charging wattage is published for this phone; the Charging row stops at USB PD 3.0 (PPS) certification

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves.
