Overview

The Huawei Mate 70 Air is a mid-range phone from Huawei, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 429 (about $605) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its big 6,500 mAh battery, and its sharp, bright display. Its chipset is mid-tier (66/100 on our spec-based index) — the usual class for social media, video, photos and light games.

Performance-index rank: #18 of 226 Huawei phones we list.

Why consider it?

The Mate 70 Air pairs a 7-inch screen with a 6500mAh battery in a body Huawei measures at 6.6mm — an unusual combination. But Huawei sells it through its Chinese site only, publishes no refresh rate for the panel, and states plainly that there is no wireless charging.

Who it suits

Someone who wants a large screen and a 6500mAh battery in a slim body, and who is untroubled by buying a phone brought in from the Chinese market.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who charges wirelessly every day, or who is buying for the satellite messaging feature — Huawei's own footnote restricts it to mainland China.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Huawei markets a 7-inch screen and then footnotes it itself: the true diagonal is 6.96 inches. The panel is OLED at FHD+ 2760x1320 with 2160Hz PWM dimming and touch sampling up to 300Hz — and nowhere on the page is a refresh rate given, which is reason enough for us to stay silent on that number rather than assume it.

Unlike Huawei's more expensive phones, this one does name its processor: Kirin 9020A on the 16GB RAM version, Kirin 9020B on the 12GB version. Storage is 256GB or 512GB, and memory cards are not supported.

The rear set is four lenses: a 50MP main on a 1/1.3-inch sensor at F1.8 with OIS, a 12MP RYYB telephoto with OIS (3x optical, focal lengths of 16mm, 24mm and 69mm), an 8MP ultra-wide macro and a 1.5MP multispectral sensor. The front camera is 10.7MP ultra-wide, and video tops out at 4K with AIS stabilisation.

That 6500mAh cell sits in a 6.6mm body, and charging is 66W wired only: the wireless row says not supported, and reverse charging is wired at 5W. Elsewhere the sheet is well equipped — side-mounted fingerprint reader, NFC, an infrared sensor, and dual-frequency L1 plus L5 GPS.

The practical summary is that this is a China-market device running HarmonyOS 5.1, which puts apps and warranty ahead of price in the order of questions to ask.

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

If your priority is a 6500mAh battery behind a 7-inch screen in a slim body, and you understand you are buying an imported HarmonyOS phone, ≈ 429 JD is reasonable for what Huawei's sheet actually promises. The honest limit: Huawei publishes neither a refresh rate nor a band list for this model, so neither is something we can confirm for you before you check the handset with the seller.

Approximate ratings computed from the published specs (display type and refresh rate, cameras, battery and charging, and price vs. performance) — not lab tests.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Kirin 9020 — mid tier (66/100) for social media, video and light-to-medium games.
Battery: 6,500 mAh — a very large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 66W — fast (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: AMOLED 1.5K, 6.94-inch — above-FHD resolution; OLED means true blacks and high contrast.
Camera: 50+40+8 MP (3 lenses) plus a 11 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • 6500mAh typical (6380mAh rated) with 66W wired charging, and Huawei's in-box list includes the SuperCharge adapter itself.
  • IP68 and IP69 together: immersion to a stated depth plus high-temperature high-pressure water jets under Huawei's test conditions, which is above what this price class usually carries.
  • Huawei does name the processor on this model: Kirin 9020B on the 12GB RAM version (Kirin 9020A on the 16GB one), alongside a 12MP OIS telephoto with 3x optical zoom and an infrared sensor for controlling appliances.

Cons

  • No wireless charging at all — the wireless row on the spec sheet reads "not supported", and reverse charging is wired at 5W.
  • The spec sheet never states a refresh rate for the display (it lists 2160Hz PWM dimming and up to 300Hz touch sampling), and the resolution is FHD+ 2760x1320 rather than the 1.5K panel recorded in our own table.
  • Beidou satellite messaging is limited to mainland China in Huawei's footnote, there is no Levant product page for the model, and no network band table is published anywhere.

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (availability, chip, front_cam, rear_cam, refresh_hz, screen_in / screen_type) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant. Treat them as unconfirmed. Spotted an error? Let us know.
