Overview

The iPhone 12 Pro is a mid-range phone from Apple, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 259 (about $365), up to about JOD 299 for higher storage — also an estimate — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is mid-tier (59/100 on our spec-based index) — the usual class for social media, video, photos and light games.

Performance-index rank: #27 of 46 Apple phones we list.

Why consider it?

This is the cheapest way into Apple's Pro camera set: three 12 MP lenses, a LiDAR Scanner and Apple ProRAW, at ≈ 259 JOD. It is also the generation before ProMotion and before macro photography, which is exactly why it costs what it costs.

Who it suits

Someone who specifically wants iOS at this budget and cares about shooting ProRAW or LiDAR-assisted night portraits. It also suits people who prefer a 6.1-inch, 189 g body.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone used to a 120 Hz screen — Apple's spec page for this model does not mention ProMotion or any refresh rate at all. Nor is it for buyers chasing the longest battery life at this price: Apple's figure here is 17 hours of video playback, on a new device.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Start with the official numbers: an A14 Bionic, a 6.1-inch OLED at 2532 × 1170 and 460 ppi, a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, a Ceramic Shield front and stainless steel frame, IP68 to 6 m for 30 minutes, and 189 g on the scale.

The camera is why the word Pro is on the box: three 12 MP lenses, dual optical stabilisation on the wide and telephoto, sensor-shift stabilisation for video on the wide, a 4x optical zoom range (2x in, 2x out), Deep Fusion across all three lenses, Smart HDR 3 and ProRAW. Equally telling is what the same spec sheet does not list: no macro photography, no ProRes recording, no Photographic Styles. Those arrived with later generations, and no price makes them appear here.

The battery deserves a plain statement. Apple does not publish a mAh figure at all; it publishes hours — 17 for video, 11 for streamed video, 65 for audio, all measured on a new 2020 device. Apple also states that batteries in iPhone 14 and earlier are designed to keep 80% of original capacity after 500 complete charge cycles. In practice, the difference between two units at the same price today comes down to one number, the Maximum Capacity percentage in Settings, not the model name.

What we cannot tell you: how its photos hold up next to 2026 phones, or how long it really lasts in a working day, because that depends entirely on the individual unit.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Poco F6 — At ≈ 259 JOD you get a Snapdragon 8s Gen3, a 5000 mAh battery and a 120 Hz screen; its spec index here is 79 against the iPhone 12 Pro's 59. The rational swap if iOS is not a requirement. (259 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›
  • Realme 15 — A 2025 model with a 7000 mAh battery and a 144 Hz screen at ≈ 259 JOD. The cameras are simpler and the spec index is 55, but it is new stock, so five years of battery wear is not part of the deal. (259 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

Worth ≈ 259 JOD if you want iOS and a Pro camera set for the least money and you will check battery health before paying. If a 120 Hz screen or long battery life matters more, the same sum buys far newer Android hardware. We have tested no unit, and the only way to know a used phone's battery is the Maximum Capacity figure in Settings.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Apple A14 Bionic — mid tier (59/100) for social media, video and light-to-medium games.
Battery: 2,815 mAh — a relatively small capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 20W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: OLED FHD+, 6.1-inch — an OLED panel (true blacks, higher contrast than LCD).
Camera: 12+12+12 MP (3 lenses) plus a 12 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • The full Pro set: a 12 MP ultra-wide at f/2.4 with a 120-degree field of view, an f/1.6 wide and an f/2.0 telephoto, with dual optical stabilisation (wide and telephoto) and a 4x optical zoom range.
  • Apple ProRAW, Deep Fusion on all three lenses, Smart HDR 3 and LiDAR-enabled night portraits, all inside ≈ 259 JOD.
  • Apple still lists this model among the iPhones compatible with iOS 26, so an autumn-2020 handset remains on the official update list.

Cons

  • Night mode is listed for the wide and ultra-wide cameras only, which takes the 2x telephoto out of the picture in low light.
  • Screen brightness is 800 nits typical, and 1200 nits only for HDR content — a modest figure for a display you read in direct sun.
  • A Lightning port at a time when cables and accessories have moved to USB-C, with Apple quoting 50% in around 30 minutes from a 20 W or higher adapter sold separately.
