Overview
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is a flagship phone from Apple, with the 256GB variant (new) observed from about JOD 886 (about $1,250) in local classified listings for new units on 30 September 2026. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.
Its main highlights: its top-tier Apple A19 Pro chipset, and its sharp, bright display. Its chipset sits in the top tier (100/100 on our spec-based index) — the class usually chosen for heavy gaming, video editing and intensive use.
Performance-index rank: #1 of 46 Apple phones we list.
Why consider it?
Apple's largest iPhone with the longest battery life in the lineup by Apple's own specs, and its most complete camera system: three 48 MP cameras including a 4x optical telephoto (up to 8x optical-quality zoom in Apple's wording), a 6.9-inch 120 Hz display, and the A19 Pro with a new vapor chamber inside an aluminum unibody.
Who it suits
People who shoot a lot of video or rely on zoom, and anyone who wants the biggest screen and longest battery an iPhone offers — and is willing to pay for it and carry a fairly heavy phone (about 233 g).
Who should look elsewhere
If zoom and video are not priorities, the regular iPhone 17 has a very similar chip, a 120 Hz display and 256 GB base storage for much less. If the size bothers you, the iPhone 17 Pro has the same cameras in a 6.3-inch body.
Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence
The A19 Pro with a vapor chamber (per Apple's specs) scores 100/100 on our chipset-derived index — the highest in our catalog for sustained shooting and gaming. The three 48 MP cameras with 4× optical zoom are the substantive difference from the iPhone 17; real-world results are untested by us. The 6.9-inch 1.5K 120 Hz screen is the largest in the family and heavy in hand. Apple states this is the largest battery in any iPhone at 4,832 mAh with faster 40 W charging; we measured neither runtime nor charge time.
Alternatives worth comparing
- iPhone 17 — The iPhone 17 gets a 120 Hz display and two 48 MP cameras for far less — what the Pro Max really adds is the optical telephoto, the bigger battery and a body built for sustained pro camera work. (652 JOD · observed)
- iPhone 16 Pro Max — JOD 87 cheaper with the same 6.9-inch size, 5× optical zoom and the A18 Pro — if you do not need the newest generation, it is nearly the same experience for a third less. (799 JOD · observed) full comparison ›

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above
If camera, battery and the big screen are the reason you're buying, this is the most complete iPhone right now and the price shown above, with its status, date and variant, is what to decide on. If not, the iPhone 17 or 17 Pro delivers most of the experience for less. We have not tested this phone — this take is based on official specs and announced differences.

What does that mean in plain words?
Chipset: Apple A19 Pro — top tier on our index (100/100, derived from the chipset class, not from testing). This class is usually chosen for heavy gaming and editing.
Battery: 4,832 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 40W — fast (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: OLED 1.5K, 6.9-inch — above-FHD resolution; OLED means true blacks and high contrast.
Camera: 48+48+48 MP (3 lenses) plus a 18 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.
