Overview

The iPhone 6s Plus is a budget phone from Apple, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 35 (about $50) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its practical balance of price and specs. Its chipset is basic (29/100) — calls, WhatsApp and light browsing, as a first or backup phone.

Performance-index rank: #42 of 46 Apple phones we list — and its performance-per-dinar is among the highest we list (an arithmetic ratio, not a verdict on value).

Why consider it?

The large member of the 2015 pair, now offered at around ≈ 35. Three things on Apple's page put it above the plain 6s: a 5.5-inch 1920-by-1080 display at 401 ppi, optical image stabilisation that Apple marks "iPhone 6s Plus only", and higher battery claims. Its software position is identical, though: outside iOS 27 and stuck on the iOS 15 branch.

Who it suits

Someone who wants a big screen for the least money — reading or watching over Wi-Fi — or a spare handset that mostly stays at home.

Who should look elsewhere

Not a main phone in 2026, not for anyone bothered by a heavy handset, and not for anyone who depends on current apps that refuse old operating systems.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Apple's own page for the iPhone 6s Plus lists a 5.5-inch display at 1920-by-1080 and 401 ppi with 3D Touch, an A9 chip with 64-bit architecture, a 12-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilisation that Apple explicitly marks "iPhone 6s Plus only", 4K video at 30 fps, a 5-megapixel front camera, a Lightning connector and 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB capacities. The published battery claims are higher than the smaller model's: up to 24 hours of talk time, 14 hours of video and 80 hours of audio, against 14, 11 and 50. Apple publishes no mAh capacity, no RAM figure and no charging wattage, so any such number in a sales listing did not originate with the company.

Those figures are accurate but they are from 2015, and the date is the problem rather than the sheet. Apple's iOS 27 device list begins at iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation), so this phone sits outside the current OS on the iOS 15 branch. The security releases page shows that branch still receiving fixes, most recently iOS 15.8.8 on 11 May 2026 for "iPhone 6s (all models)", which covers this variant. The practical result cuts both ways: reasonably current security patches, against an app library that narrows each year as developers raise their minimum OS.

Two more items. Apple lists the 32GB version of this phone as obsolete worldwide, and states that for obsolete products all hardware service stops and parts cannot be ordered — so the capacity you buy changes its official status. And after ten years the battery is simply an unknown; Apple itself describes batteries as consumable components that chemically age, and includes the 6s Plus among the models under performance management.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • iPhone SE 2016 — About the same money (≈ 35), the same A9 chip and the same 12MP camera, and it appears on the same iOS 15.8.8 release from May 2026. The difference is a 4-inch screen, so if the big display is not the reason you are buying, this is the smaller, lighter phone at an identical software level. (35 JOD · estimate)
  • Nexus 6P — About the same money (≈ 35) for a 5.7-inch screen and Android instead of iOS, but it is also a 2015 device whose update window closed years ago — meaning it lacks the one advantage still working in the 6s Plus's favour. Pick it only if you do not want iOS at all. (35 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

It does not work as a daily phone in 2026, however tempting the price looks. At ≈ 35 its only real value is as a cheap large screen on a secondary device. If that money is meant for your main line, a new budget handset beats it on everything that matters: a supported OS, apps that install, and a battery with no years on it.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Apple A9 — basic tier (29/100): calls, WhatsApp and light browsing.
Battery: 2,750 mAh — a relatively small capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 5W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: IPS LCD FHD+, 5.5-inch — an LCD panel; lower contrast than OLED, and the norm at this price.
Camera: 12 MP (1 lens) plus a 5 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • The only phone of this generation Apple gives optical stabilisation: the official page reads "Optical image stabilization (iPhone 6s Plus only)", alongside the 12MP camera and 4K video
  • Clearly higher published battery claims than the smaller model: up to 24 hours talk, 14 hours video and 80 hours audio, against 14, 11 and 50 on the iPhone 6s
  • Still inside the security window: Apple's security releases page lists iOS 15.8.8, 11 May 2026, for "iPhone 6s (all models)"

Cons

  • Entirely outside iOS 27: Apple's compatibility list starts at iPhone 11 and iPhone SE (2nd generation), leaving this frozen on a 2021 release
  • Apple lists the 32GB version as obsolete worldwide — its published definition being that all hardware service stops and service providers cannot order parts — with the other capacities vintage
  • Big and heavy by current standards: Apple gives a weight of 6.77 ounces (about 192 grams) and a height of 6.23 inches, for only a 5.5-inch screen

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (battery_mah, charge_w, ram_gb, screen_type, storage) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant. Treat them as unconfirmed. Spotted an error? Let us know.
