Overview

The Nexus 6P is a budget phone from Google Pixel, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 35 (about $50) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its sharp, bright display, and its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is basic (28/100) — calls, WhatsApp and light browsing, as a first or backup phone.

Performance-index rank: #31 of 35 Google Pixel phones we list — and its performance-per-dinar is among the highest we list (an arithmetic ratio, not a verdict on value).

Why consider it?

Google's 2015 flagship, built by Huawei, now at around ≈ 35. Google still publishes its full spec table in the Nexus help centre — and on the neighbouring page it publishes the two dates that decide the phone's fate: September 2017 and November 2018.

Who it suits

A second handset for music, calls and home Wi-Fi, or anyone who wants a high-resolution AMOLED screen for the least money and will keep no sensitive account on it.

Who should look elsewhere

Not a main line, not for banking or wallet apps, and not for anyone who needs multiple camera lenses or performance that suits current software.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

Against expectations for a ten-year-old handset, Google still publishes the Nexus 6P's complete spec table in the Nexus help centre. It lists a 5.7-inch AMOLED at 2560 x 1440 and 518 ppi in 16:9 behind Gorilla Glass 4; a Snapdragon 810 v2.1, eight cores at 2.0 GHz, with Adreno 430 graphics; 3 GB of LPDDR4; 32, 64 or 128 GB of storage with no card slot; a 3,450 mAh battery; and USB Type-C 15 W charging. The rear camera is a single 12.3 MP unit at f/2.0 with IR laser-assisted autofocus and 4K video, with an 8 MP f/2.4 camera in front. The body is anodised aluminium at 178 grams, with dual front speakers and a 3.5 mm jack.

Alongside that table Google publishes a second, more important page: minimum update and support periods for Nexus devices. One line covers this phone — no guaranteed Android version updates after September 2017, and no guaranteed security updates or telephone support after November 2018. The device has therefore sat outside official patching for about eight years, which by itself rules it out of any use involving a bank, a wallet or a primary mailbox.

One point applies specifically to imported units. Google publishes two separate band tables, one for North America and one for the rest of the world, and only the second includes bands B1, B8 and B20. The first question to ask about any unit offered here is which market it came from, before any question about its condition.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Tecno Spark 8T — A little pricier (≈ 40) but from 2022 rather than 2015, with a 5,000 mAh battery and a 6.8-inch 90 Hz screen. You give up screen quality and the metal build, and gain a phone whose software is six years newer — which is the difference that decides whether your apps install at all. (40 JOD · estimate)
  • iPhone 6s Plus — Roughly the same money (≈ 35) and the same 2015 vintage, but on a completely different software track: Apple's security releases page still lists "iPhone 6s (all models)" among recent updates, while the Nexus window shut in 2018. If patching rather than operating system is your criterion, the comparison does not favour the Google phone. (35 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

If what you want is a good screen and decent front-firing sound in a helper device that carries none of your accounts, ≈ 35 buys a genuinely well-built phone. As a main line in 2026 the answer is no, and the reason is a published number rather than an opinion: the last date its maker guaranteed a security patch was November 2018, and no price cut fixes that.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Snapdragon 810 — basic tier (28/100): calls, WhatsApp and light browsing.
Battery: 3,450 mAh — a relatively small capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 18W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: AMOLED 2K, 5.7-inch — above-FHD resolution; OLED means true blacks and high contrast.
Camera: 12 MP (1 lens) plus a 8 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • A 5.7-inch AMOLED at 2560 x 1440 and 518 ppi behind Gorilla Glass 4 — a pixel density that still reads as high in 2026
  • Hardware you rarely find at this price: an aluminium body at 178 grams, dual front-facing stereo speakers, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a rear Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C
  • A 3,450 mAh battery with 15 W charging, and Google's own claim that ten minutes on the charger returns up to seven hours of use

Cons

  • Long out of security support: Google's table states no guaranteed Android version updates after September 2017, and no guaranteed security updates or support after November 2018
  • A single 12.3 MP rear camera with no ultrawide and no telephoto, and no optical stabilisation anywhere in Google's table
  • A Snapdragon 810 with 3 GB of memory from 2015, shipped on Android 6.0 — and 2026 software is far heavier than this hardware was built for

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (charge_w, rear_cam, refresh_hz) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant. Treat them as unconfirmed. Spotted an error? Let us know.
