Overview

The Vivo V40 Pro is a mid-range phone from Vivo, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 330 (about $465), up to about JOD 375 for higher storage — also an estimate — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: ultra-fast 80W charging, and its sharp, bright display. Its chipset is in the strong tier (81/100 on our spec-based index) — on paper a fit for heavy daily use and most games.

Performance-index rank: #30 of 282 Vivo phones we list.

Why consider it?

Four cameras, all of them 50 MP and all branded ZEISS on vivo's page: a Sony IMX921 main at f/1.88 with optical stabilisation, an ultra-wide at f/2.0, a Sony IMX816 portrait telephoto at f/1.85 with 2x optical zoom, and a 50 MP front camera covering 92 degrees. Behind them sit a Dimensity 9200+, a 6.78-inch curved 120 Hz panel and a 5,500 mAh battery charging at 80 W.

Who it suits

Someone who shoots portraits and selfies more than they game, and wants a slim 7.58 mm, 192 g body with an IP68 rating.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who taps to pay or uses NFC cards — this phone has no NFC at all, stated plainly on vivo's own table.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

The most coherent thing about this phone is the camera logic: vivo fitted four 50 MP lenses instead of one big main sensor surrounded by depth and macro filler. The rear main is a Sony IMX921 at f/1.88 with autofocus and optical stabilisation, the second is an ultra-wide at f/2.0, and the third is a Sony IMX816 portrait telephoto at f/1.85 with 2x optical zoom. The front camera is also 50 MP, covering 92 degrees. vivo brands all four as ZEISS on the product page, and there is an Aura Light flash on the back.

The platform is a Dimensity 9200+ with 8 GB of memory and 256 GB of storage at the base, with a 12 GB / 512 GB tier above it. The display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED at 2800 x 1260 and 120 Hz with a 4,500-nit local peak, which vivo describes as a 3D curved panel. The battery is 5,500 mAh, charging is 80 W through a 9 V / 1.3 A adapter per vivo's footnote, and the body is 192 g at 7.58 mm with an IP68 rating.

The compromises are on the same table. There is no NFC whatsoever. Bluetooth is 5.3, the software is Funtouch OS 14 on Android 14, and Wi-Fi covers 2.4 and 5 GHz with no 6 GHz band. vivo Jordan's own catalogue does not list this model: from the V line it shows the V40 Lite, V50 Lite and V60, which leaves vivo India as the only official page for the phone.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Galaxy S24 — The Galaxy S24 sits at the same money in our record (JOD ≈ 330), sells through official Jordanian channels, and does have NFC. Its 6.2-inch screen is smaller and its 4,000 mAh battery much smaller, so the trade is plain: local support and services against battery and camera count. (330 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›
  • Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro — At JOD 329 (estimate), it is JOD 1 cheaper. Compare the variants before deciding: 256GB+ versus 256GB+ storage, 4,700 versus 5,500 mAh, and Snapdragon 8s Gen3 versus Dimensity 9200+. These are specification differences, not measured performance or battery life. (329 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

If you are buying a phone for portraits and selfies and you like a slim body, the four-camera 50 MP logic at JOD ≈ 330 is coherent and documented by the maker. The missing NFC is a fixed fact of the hardware, though — no contactless payment, and no update will add it.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Dimensity 9200+ — a strong tier (81/100 on specs), on paper suited to most games and demanding apps.
Battery: 5,500 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 80W — among the fastest around (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: Curved AMOLED 1.5K, 6.78-inch — above-FHD resolution; OLED means true blacks and high contrast.
Camera: 50+50+50 MP (3 lenses) plus a 50 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Pros

  • All four cameras are 50 MP: a stabilised Sony IMX921 main, an ultra-wide, a Sony IMX816 portrait telephoto at 2x optical, and a 92-degree front camera
  • 192 g and 7.58 mm around a 5,500 mAh battery, with 80 W charging and an IP68 rating — slim for the capacity
  • A 6.78-inch 3D curved AMOLED at 2800 x 1260 and 120 Hz, with a 4,500-nit local peak

Cons

  • No NFC: vivo's spec table says "Not supported" outright, so no contactless payment and no card emulation from the phone
  • The Dimensity 9200+ is a generation behind the Dimensity 9400 in vivo's newer phones in our catalogue, and Bluetooth stops at 5.3
  • vivo Jordan's catalogue carries the V Lite line (V40 Lite, V50 Lite, V60) and the Y line but not the V40 Pro; vivo India hosts its only product page

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (release, screen_type) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant.
