Figures as published (July 30, 2026). Prices written in the article text are our catalog's figures when it was written, and prices move — each phone's current price and its status (observed with a date, or an estimate) are on its page and in the “Phones mentioned” cards below, and any device or brand count above belongs to that date.
Flagship pricing has become a story of its own. We track 400 phones with July 2026 prices, and the ten strongest performers all start at around JOD 609 and climb from there — yet the gap between the cheapest and the most expensive of them is nearly double, while the score gap is three points at most. So the real question isn't "which phone is fastest?" It's: what exactly is your money buying?
The ones that earn it
The iPhone 17 Pro Max is the only phone in our database to hit a perfect score of 100, at around JOD 889. Not cheap, but at least the money buys the highest performance that currently exists, courtesy of the Apple A19 Pro — not just a logo. If iPhone isn't your lane, the Galaxy S26 Ultra at around JOD 719 scores 98 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 — the cheapest door into the top tier among the household names.
Then there's the smartest layer of all: the OnePlus 15 at around JOD 650 delivers a 98 score with a 7,300mAh battery and 120W charging, and the Nubia RedMagic 11 Pro matches that 98 at around JOD 609 with a 7,500mAh cell. These two prove that top-shelf performance no longer demands a four-digit price tag.
Where you pay for the badge
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra costs around JOD 1,145 and scores 98 — the same 98 the OnePlus 15 earns for far less. The Oppo Find X9 Pro at around JOD 999 scores 97, which is exactly what the Realme GT 8 Pro scores at around JOD 749. None of these are bad phones — the cameras, materials and displays are genuinely premium — but the extra money isn't buying extra performance. It's buying things you should be sure you actually want.
Who a flagship makes sense for
- If the camera is your work or your hobby: the Honor Magic 8 Pro at around JOD 949 runs a 200+50+50 system with a 50MP selfie camera — mid-rangers simply don't reach that level
- If you keep a phone for four or five years: today's performance headroom becomes tomorrow's lifespan
- If you game heavily every day: the Nubia RedMagic 11 Pro was built for exactly that, with its 7,500mAh battery and 144Hz display
Who's smarter going mid-range
Here's where the story flips: the Galaxy S25 costs around JOD 340 and scores 91 — less than half the S26 Ultra's price for a phone just seven points behind it. The Poco F7 at around JOD 379 scores 88 with a 7,550mAh battery, bigger than what most flagships themselves carry. And the Realme GT 7T at around JOD 349 posts an 89 with a 7,000mAh cell. If your day is social apps, messaging, occasional photos and light gaming, this tier delivers most of the experience and leaves serious money in your pocket.
Bottom line: don't buy a number, buy your use case. Open our best picks page, put your two finalists side by side, and see whether the price gap matches the experience gap. And if you want to browse wider, the full list is right there with updated prices.
