Overview
The OnePlus 12R is a mid-range phone from OnePlus, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 289 (about $410) — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.
Its main highlights: ultra-fast 100W charging, and its sharp, bright display. Its chipset is in the strong tier (82/100 on our spec-based index) — on paper a fit for heavy daily use and most games.
Performance-index rank: #10 of 62 OnePlus phones we list.
Why consider it?
It keeps the expensive parts of the OnePlus 12 — an LTPO panel at 120 Hz and 100 W charging — on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with a slightly larger 5,500 mAh battery, in exchange for an openly cheaper camera: no telephoto and no wireless charging.
Who it suits
Buyers paying for speed, screen and battery life rather than for photography.
Who should look elsewhere
Anyone who wants optical zoom, video above 4K, or wireless charging.
Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence
The 12R and the 12 are different phones on different silicon, and that is the first thing to pin down: the global table here names the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform with an Adreno 740, while the OnePlus 12 table names a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with an Adreno 750. The 12R runs last generation's flagship part, not the same one.
The second gap is the display. This panel is AMOLED ProXDR on LTPO 4.0, 6.78 inches at 2780×1264 and 450 ppi, dynamic from 1 to 120 Hz, with touch response up to 1000 Hz, 2160 Hz pulse-width modulation and Gorilla Glass Victus 2. Very good — but not the 3168×1440 the higher model publishes.
The third gap, and the one that shows up daily, is the camera. Its lead sensor is a 50 MP unit, the 1/1.56-inch Sony IMX890 at f/1.8, with OIS and PDAF; then an 8 MP ultra-wide covering 112 degrees with fixed focus; then a 2 MP macro rated for four centimetres. OnePlus lists 16 MP on the front of the 12R. The phrase 'Hasselblad Camera for Mobile' does not appear in this model's camera feature list, while OnePlus does print it for the OnePlus 12 — a published difference, not an inference.
Two boxes go the other way: battery is 5,500 mAh in two cells against 5,400, and memory is 16 GB in its only configuration. Charging is 100 W SUPERVOOC, wired only. The rest of the table: Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.3, UFS 3.1 storage, an infrared sensor, and the alert slider on the left edge. Our record carries a single figure for this model, ≈ 289.
Alternatives worth comparing
- Galaxy S24 FE — For the same money, ≈ 289 brings a 50+12+8 MP rear set that includes a real telephoto — precisely what the 12R lacks — against a smaller 4,700 mAh battery and an Exynos 2400e. (289 JOD · estimate) full comparison ›
- Oppo K13 Turbo — The endurance option at the same price, ≈ 289: a 7,000 mAh battery and a 144 Hz screen on a Dimensity 8450, though its 50+2 MP rear set is simpler still than this one's. (289 JOD · estimate)
Strengths and trade-offs in detail ›
Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above
If what you are paying for is responsiveness, screen and battery, this model keeps nearly all of it, and the distance from the OnePlus 12 makes sense at ≈ 289. If you photograph children or events and need optical zoom, though, there is no telephoto lens in this phone at all, and no amount of chip performance replaces one.

What does that mean in plain words?
Chipset: Snapdragon 8 Gen2 — a strong tier (82/100 on specs), on paper suited to most games and demanding apps.
Battery: 5,500 mAh — a large capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 100W — among the fastest around (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: LTPO AMOLED 1.5K, 6.78-inch — above-FHD resolution; OLED means true blacks and high contrast.
Camera: 50+8+2 MP (3 lenses) plus a 16 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.
