Figures as published (August 1, 2026). Prices written in the article text are our catalog's figures when it was written, and prices move — each phone's current price and its status (observed with a date, or an estimate) are on its page and in the “Phones mentioned” cards below, and any device or brand count above belongs to that date.
Our iPhone listing holds 44 devices, with starting prices running from JOD 22 for the oldest model up to JOD 999 for the most expensive one on the list. But the real decision is not between those two ends. It sits among five or six models crowded between JOD 350 and JOD 900, each promising something different.
Price against performance points
Our performance index out of 100 condenses chip, screen, camera and battery into a single number. Put it next to the starting price and you see that every extra dinar does not return the same value — the big jumps happen at specific points, not evenly along the line.
- iPhone 14: JOD 349, 72 points, Apple A15 Bionic chip, 6.1-inch 60Hz screen, 12+12 camera
- iPhone 15: JOD 425, 78 points, Apple A16 Bionic chip, 48+12 camera, 20W charging
- iPhone 16: JOD 580, 89 points, Apple A18 chip, 3561 mAh battery, 25W charging
- iPhone 17: JOD 649, 95 points, Apple A19 chip, 6.3-inch 120Hz screen, 40W charging, 256GB+ storage
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: JOD 889, 100 points, 6.9-inch screen, 4832 mAh battery, three cameras at 48+48+48
Where the difference shows in daily use
The clearest jump on the whole list is between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 17, and it costs only JOD 69. For that you move from a 60Hz screen to 120Hz, from 128GB+ storage to 256GB+, from 25W charging to 40W, the battery goes to 3692 mAh instead of 3561, and the score to 95 instead of 89. That is the most useful JOD 69 on this list.
Watch the overlap between the new standard model and the older Pro, though: the iPhone 16 Pro costs JOD 649, exactly the same as the iPhone 17, yet scores 93 against 95. The Pro brings three cameras at 48+12+48, while the iPhone 17 answers with 40W charging instead of 25, a 3692 mAh battery instead of 3355, and 256GB+ storage instead of 128GB+. If your budget is around 500, the iPhone 16e at JOD 504 is the cheapest route to an Apple A18 chip at 87 points — but with a single 48 camera, a 60Hz screen and 20W charging.
The value that survives two years
One thing never shows up in a spec table: an iPhone holds its resale value better than most, and keeps receiving system updates for years after launch. So you not only use the phone longer, you also recover a larger share of what you paid when you trade it in. The fair comparison is therefore not today's price on its own, but today's price minus what comes back later — which makes that JOD 69 gap between the iPhone 16 and the iPhone 17 look smaller than it reads.
The practical takeaway: under JOD 400, the iPhone 14 at JOD 349 and 72 points still makes sense for anyone who wants the basics. Around 500, the iPhone 16e at JOD 504 is the cheapest way into a modern chip. The best balance on the entire list is the iPhone 17 at JOD 649. As for the iPhone 17 Pro Max at JOD 889, you are paying JOD 240 more for 5 points, a bigger screen, a bigger battery and a third camera — worth it if camera and battery are your work, not worth it otherwise.
