Overview

The iPhone X is a budget phone from Apple, with an unverified reference price of about JOD 105 (about $150), up to about JOD 120 for higher storage — also an estimate — an estimate, not a confirmed market price. Below is its full spec sheet with a plain-language breakdown, pros and cons, and how it compares to its rivals. We have not tested this phone ourselves; everything here is derived from published specifications.

Its main highlights: its vivid OLED display. Its chipset is entry-level (40/100) — for messaging, browsing and video; heavy gaming is not its territory.

Performance-index rank: #37 of 46 Apple phones we list.

Why consider it?

The cheapest way into Face ID and an Apple OLED panel, at an estimated ≈ 105 to ≈ 120 JOD with us. The decisive question is not its speed but its standing: Apple lists it as an obsolete product, and its last major operating system was iOS 16.

Who it suits

Someone who wants an Apple handset that simply works, for the least money and a short horizon, knowing up front that it sits outside both updates and official service.

Who should look elsewhere

Anyone who needs current apps, service through Apple, 5G, or an eSIM - this model supports a single nano-SIM only.

Performance, camera, display and battery — and the limits of the evidence

The iPhone X was Apple's first phone with Face ID and an OLED display, and it still offers a 5.8-inch Super Retina HD panel at 2436 by 1125 and 458 ppi with HDR - genuinely a higher density than the more expensive iPhone 11. With it come an A11 Bionic, two 12MP rear cameras (a Wide and a telephoto) with dual optical stabilisation, 4K video up to 60 fps, and a weight of just 174 grams.

But reading this phone today starts on two pages of Apple's site rather than on the spec sheet. The first is the iOS compatibility lists: iOS 16 includes it, iOS 17 does not, so its software path ended at iOS 16 while iOS 27 shipped this month. The second matters more. Apple lists it as obsolete worldwide - its own definition being products it stopped distributing more than seven years ago - and states that it discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products and that service providers cannot order parts for them. Any repair from here falls entirely outside Apple's channels.

There are practical differences from the similar-looking iPhone XS, too: it is rated IP67 rather than IP68, it takes a single nano-SIM with no eSIM, its screen uses 3D Touch, and its page names no fast-charge adapter wattage at all, unlike the newer models' pages. The battery has no published capacity; the most Apple ever claimed was up to 13 hours of video playback in 2017, the lowest figure in this group. Nine years on, that number says nothing about any particular unit, and we have inspected none.

Alternatives worth comparing

  • Galaxy A07 — At JOD 100 (observed), it is JOD 5 cheaper. Compare the variants before deciding: 64GB+ versus 64GB+ storage, 5,000 versus 2,716 mAh, and Helio G99 versus Apple A11 Bionic. These are specification differences, not measured performance or battery life. (100 JOD · observed)
  • Tecno Spark 40 Pro — For the same outlay (≈ 105 JOD): a 6.78-inch 144Hz screen, a 5200 mAh battery and a Helio G100 Ultimate, sitting above the iPhone X on our spec index. The cost is leaving iOS, and leaving Apple's image processing with it. (105 JOD · estimate)

Verdict — conditional on your needs and the documented price above

Worth ≈ 105 to ≈ 120 JOD only if you want a dense OLED and Face ID for the smallest possible outlay, do not plan to keep the phone, and do not depend on official service. It makes no sense for any use meant to run for years, or for anyone whose apps will demand a newer OS. Said plainly: this is a 2017 device, the condition of its battery and panel cannot be read from any table, and we have not tested a unit.

What does that mean in plain words?

Chipset: Apple A11 Bionic — entry level (40/100) for messaging, browsing and video; not aimed at heavy gaming.
Battery: 2,716 mAh — a relatively small capacity by market standards. Capacity is an indicator, not a measurement: real endurance depends on the display, chipset and your usage, and we have not measured it.
Charging: 15W — standard (rated charging power; actual charge time varies with the charger and temperature).
Display: OLED FHD+, 5.8-inch — an OLED panel (true blacks, higher contrast than LCD).
Camera: 12+12 MP (2 lenses) plus a 7 MP front camera. Megapixels and lens count describe the setup, not image quality — real results depend on the sensor and processing, which we have not tested.

Pros & cons

Cons

  • Apple lists it as obsolete worldwide and states plainly that it discontinues all hardware service for obsolete products and that service providers cannot order parts for them - any repair falls entirely outside Apple's channels.

Note: Unverified reference estimate (derived from launch pricing and comparable phones) — a starting point for negotiation, not a confirmed price. Specs come from official manufacturer announcements and the locally available variant may differ slightly; the indices are computed from specs and we have not tested the phone ourselves. USD equivalents use the official peg.
Specification ambiguity: Some spec fields on this page (battery_mah, charge_w, ram_gb, refresh_hz) could not be matched to the manufacturer's own page — either the maker does not publish them, publishes a different figure, or the name covers more than one variant.
